St. Louis Cardinals sign Allen Craig to five-year deal – MLB Update
The St. Louis Cardinals has signed first baseman Craig Allen to a new five-year deal worth $43 million. Craig played a breakout last season with the Cardinals in which he remained consistent.
“I think he’s proven he’s the type of player that, when he’s in the lineup, can make an impact,” Cardinals general manager John Mozeliak said.
Craig batted with a hitting average of .307 along with 22 home runs, 92 RBIs and .354 OBP. His overall stats also make him a good and reliable player on the plate. His carries career hitting average of .300 along with 37 home runs, 150 RBIs and .348 OBP.
Experts believe that it is a very healthy sign that the Cardinals have signed Craig for five years as his presence will make the roster stronger in the coming seasons.
Along with Craig, the Cardinals have also some other very talented individuals in the roster who will try to make sure that their team must win in the next big event.
Currently the Cardinals have five players in the infield including Ty Wigginton, Ronny Cedeno, Daniel Descalso, David Freese and Rafael Furcal. All these five players possess large Major League experience and know very well as how to get consistent results.
Wigginton played with full thrust and achieved .235 hitting average along with eleven home runs, 43 RBIs and .314 OBP. Along with last season’s good hitting average, he also carries good career batting average of .263 along with 169 home runs, 591 RBIs and
.324 OBP.
Ronny Cedeno also known for his hard hits as he did very well in the last Major League Baseball event and achieved .259 batting average along with four home runs, 22 RBIs and .332 OBP. He has also career good numbers of .247 hitting average along with 37
home runs, 218 RBIs and .290 OBP.
Daniel Descalso also dominated in last season with his hitting average of .227 along with four home runs, 26 RBIs and .303 while he has also career consistent hitting average of .245 along with five home runs, 58 RBIs and .318 OBP.
