St. Louis Cardinals’ starter Kyle Lohse prepared for Game 3 against Texas Rangers – MLB Update
Geared-up to start Game 3 for the St. Louis Cardinals, Kyle Lohse believes that his team has what it takes to defeat the Texas Rangers at Rangers Ballpark in Arlington. After splitting the first two games of the series, the Rangers will now host the Cardinals for the next three games of the Fall Classic, starting Saturday, October 22.
Playing down talks of pressure heading into the crucial encounter, Lohse stressed that the series being tied does not pose a difference on how will he approach the game. He appreciated Chris Carpenter’s performance in Game 1 and explained that his aim will be to give the team a similar start.
Lohse praised catcher Yadier Molina and believed that he will have a major role to play at games in Rangers Ballpark, hinting that the catcher is proficient at calling games. Kyle added that this ballpark has always been tough for the pitchers and it will be really important to keep the pitches down.
Sharing his experience of playing in Texas, Lohse clarified that the last time he played here was around six years ago and a lot has changed since then. The right-handed pitcher used to hurl a lot of four-seam fastballs back then, but now focuses utterly on two-seam fastballs.
Explaining his provisional game plan against the offensive power of Texas, Lohse asserted that he will try to keep it simple. He praised the offensive strength of the Rangers and added that it will be crucial for him to avoid big innings.
Feeling satisfied with his recovery, Lohse claimed that he is not having any problems with his forearm and is now getting the swing that he had lost after the injury. He stated that he feels as fresh as he was at the beginning of the spring training and that this will help him overcome a lot of obstacles in his start.
Accepting that the Rangers will not be an easy opposition, Lohse acknowledged that he will not have any time to adjust on the mound and that a rough inning upfront might as well see him being removed from the mound.
