St. Louis Cardinals starting pitcher Jaime Garcia hurt with sore elbow – MLB News
The St. Louis Cardinals starting pitcher Jaime Garcia is hurt with sore elbow as he will miss the starting rotation which is going to play against the New York Mets on Friday, May 1.
The team management is now revealing that an MRI result showed a clear soreness in his elbow which automatically makes ineligible start against the Mets.
Garcia played last game against the Philadelphia Phillies on Saturday in which he could not play well and lost the game for St. Louis.
Later after the game, he reported to team management that his elbow is not alright as he is feeling quite discomfort. The management took notice and send him for an MRI test.
In the meanwhile, the local news media started to ask questions from the Cardinals management on which General Manager John Mozeliak came out and gave some details about Garcia’ injury. GM never told the media that Garcia was having some serious trouble
instead he said in the media that it is an elbow inflammation which is making him out of play at the moment.
"I think both players represent yellow flags but we got good news on Garcia today, He had some discomfort and we wanted to rule everything out, It’s important to make sure we weren’t putting him in a worse position. He’s not getting over the hump, spinning
our wheels." said Mozeliak, who was still not sure whether his player needs any serious surgery or not.
Later the Cardinals manager Matheny said for his player’s condition, “I haven’t been around him enough to really be able to make that statement yet, You never really know what somebody is going through. I think I had the best example myself when I had that
concussion I looked 100 percent normal but I knew I was not just a little wrong,”
Before getting inured, Garcia was playing quite fine. His ERA of 3.78 is relatively very good as he is just three years veteran in the big league. On the whole, he is a good role player and his potential return is very much needed in the team.
