St. Louis Cardinals tie with New York Mets 6-6 – MLB Spring Training
St. Louis Cardinals tied with New York Mets 6-6 at the Digital Domain Park in Port St. Lucie, Florida on Saturday, March 24 in their Grapefruit League clash of the 2012 Major League Baseball Spring Training Session.
Mike Pelfrey had a very disappointing time on the mound for the Mets as he allowed eight hits and five runs to help the Padres tie the game. Pelfrey has looked a bit out of sorts since the start of 2012 Spring Training. He has give at least four runs in
his four consecutive spring starts and he will be looking to comeback strongly on his next appearance.
"I was actually pretty pleased with today," Pelfrey said. "The ball obviously came out even better than it did last time. I threw a lot of strikes. I know I made a couple pitches that I left up and didn't execute and they hit it. But I thought I was aggressive
throwing strikes and I thought the ball came out of my hand pretty good.”
The Cardinals are one of the strongest teams in Major League Baseball right now. Showing their composure, fighting abilities, determination and mental toughness, the Cardinals secured the 2011 World Series title to cheer up their fans.
Undoubtedly, they have great depth and quality in their hitting and pitching lineups but what has made them so successful over the last few years is their ability to play their natural game freely even in pressure situation.
With an impressive 12-6 win-loss record this spring, it seems the Cardinals are making in-roads for their second straight World Series title. Although the Cardinals will be disappointed with the fact they let the Mets tie the game on Saturday, they will
be pretty pleased with the way the responded to some difficult situations during the contest.
The Mets have not been able to execute their strategies this spring and their poor run continued on Saturday as they suffered their thirteenth loss of this spring. The Mets will have to do some serious work on their game plan to turn things around before
the Opening Day.
