St. Louis Cardinals to bring Edward Jackson in Game 4 of World Series – MLB World Series
The St. Louis Cardinals have opted for veteran Edwin Jackson to start Game 4 of the World Series at Arlington on Sunday, October 23. Unlike most pitchers who have seen inflationary spiral in this Series, Jackson is expected and predicted to turn the tides.
The most valuable possession that Jackson can proudly proclaim is his experience. He has remained for six years in the American League. That comparative advantage of familiarity with the Texas Rangers will be key for his success in Sunday’s game.
“They have speed, they have power, and they mix them in well," said Jackson. "Those guys have been playing together for a while, and they're hungry just like we are, especially last year going to the World Series and not winning."
He was part of the Tampa Bay Rays when the team took over the Philadelphia Phillies in the World Series in 2008. Jackson was unable to attain victory for himself or for the team. But he does not want to see the repetition of the past. Here he is determined
to change everything for good.
“You know, it's not always the easiest being bounced around, but at the end of the day, you still have an opportunity to play," Jackson said.
For all the difficulties that he has encountered, the player has maintained a positive outlook. His transfer from the Chicago White Sox to the St. Louis Cardinals has exposed him to bigger challenges that he needs to effectively handle.
Having played two games in the National League Championship Series, he has so far pitched a total of just over six innings. Which, if looked critically, may not well be up to the mark. That too is something he will have to handle carefully.
After having over a week’s rest, Edward Jackson has overcome fatigue as well to pitch with efficacy. The Cardinals will be looking to Jackson to come out aggressively against the Rangers and dominate the game early. It now remains to be seen how he tackles
the challenge coming his way.
