St. Louis Cardinals will face Washington Nationals in National League Division Series – MLB News
St. Louis Cardinals will face best National League record holders Washington Nationals in the National League Division Series after winning Wild Card playoff spot on Friday at Turner Field against the Atlanta Braves.
Cardinals shocked the Braves in-front of Atlanta's fans with a 6-3 hammering and earned post season spot with honour. Cardinals’ entire experienced batting line-up and pitchers performed a repeat of last years history when the clinched the Wild Card playoff berth and went all the way to win the 2011 Major League Baseball World Series Championship.
"I don't think they could have been more underdogs than they were last season, and they learned from that, that either distracts you or grows you together. They believe in each other," St. Louis manager Mike Matheny said after the game and explained about his team’s overall performance in this particular matchup and how they outclassed the Braves in-front of their home fans.        
Later Gonzalez, the Braves' manager also commented and tried to explain about the things which are also important to notice as he said, “I think you've got to judge our team over a 162-game season, I'm so proud of them. Anybody could have one bad game. Anybody could have one bad call, whatever, and go against you. But you win 94 games after the September we had last year, and you've got to tip your hat to this club."
Matheny further explained that they as a team have a fair chance now ahead of Nationals’ series.
Nationals, who possess the best league record with 98-64 win-loss and .605 winning percentage, also understand that they are going to play the last year’s Champions and it will be not an easy ride for them.
While St. Louis Cardinals, after winning against the Braves feeling confident and fancy their results in the upcoming huge series. They now stand at second position behind Cincinnati Reds with 88-74 win-loss along with .543 winning percentage.
Against the Nationals, Cardinals main force will be their offensive batting line-up. They are good at attacking and if they executed their plan well, the chances are high that they will oust their opponents with ease.
