St. Louis Rams DT Michael Brockers returns to practice – NFL News
St. Louis Rams’ first-round pick of this year’s draft defensive tackle Michael Brockers returned to practice on Wednesday, giving an impression for the first time that he could be included in the squad.
Brockers is yet to play a regular season game because he injured his ankle in a preseason game against Baltimore Ravens last month.
Although there is no official confirmation of his participation in Rams’ Week 4 game against Seattle Seahawks, it is expected that the player will be included in the squad, barring any setback.
Rams head coach Jeff Fisher has also said that the player’s inclusion in the squad will greatly help the team. According to the details present on the team’s website, Fisher said of Brockers:
“If he’s back and able to play, he would have an impact on our front from a pass rush standpoint and as a run defender. Now he’s, obviously, clearly behind because he has missed some valuable time but he’s very talented. That’s why he’s here.”
Rams lost their season opener against Detroit Lions, but bounced back in Week 2 game to defeat Washington Redskins. However, they were defeated in Week 3 game by Chicago Bears and the recent defeat was quite humiliating because it was a one-sided game, unlike
the first two games for Rams.
In the first two weeks of the season, Brockers was not involved in any physical training, but he did some workout before Week 3 game against Bears. Now that he is back on the practice field he might be able to spend the entire week while training.
Brockers is desperate to go out on the field and help his teammates in improving his team’s record. Rams are coming off a dreadful 2011 season and it is essential for them to record more victories this season to finally have something to cheer about.
This Sunday’s game will be hosted by Rams and it is certainly a great opportunity for Brockers to make his regular season debut in front of his home crowd.
He said:
“It’s tough (sitting out). Especially with the game you love and you want to be out there with the guys making plays. It’s tough but it’s something I had to do and all I want to do is come back, get some production and make this defence better.”
