St. Louis Rams’ Danny Amendola hopeful to make fresh start this season – NFL News
St. Louis Rams’ wide receiver, Danny Amendola, has said that he is hopeful of making a fresh start in the next National Football League (NFL) season after the player was reportedly declared fit to play.
Amendola, who became a part of practice squads of Dallas Cowboys and Philadelphia Eagles before joining the Rams, who gave him the opportunity to begin his professional NFL career in 2009, has not been able to make a memorable impact so far.
In his first season with the Rams, Amendola only started two games while playing 14 in which he registered 326 receiving yards on 43 receptions and scored one touchdown.
He played all the 16 games of the next regular season and started six of them. In that season, he managed 689 receiving yards on 85 receptions and got three touchdowns.
Just when it was looking that Amendola was finding his rhythm, his career took another turn.
In the last NFL season, Rams played their season-opener against Philadelphia Eagles. Amendola was looking good in that game, but he received an injury during the game and was sidelined. He gained 45 yards on five receptions in that game.
Later, it emerged that the injury was of more serious nature, forcing the player out of the entire season.
That time, the player admitted, was really hard on him. He said:
“It was really, really hard. It was the hardest thing I’ve had to do so far in my career and my whole life, really. It was the first time I ever missed a practice, first time I ever missed a game and I ended up missing the whole season. It was really hard.”
Amendola has been doing rehabs since the last season ended and he feels hundred percent fit now.
Last season, Rams could win only two games of the regular season and ended the season in a pathetic manner. Their poor performance earned them the second overall pick in the upcoming NFL drafts.
Rams have traded their second pick with Washington Redskins and now they have got sixth pick in the first round of the draft. Many observers expect Rams to draft a receiver, but Amendola does not feel threatened about it. He said:
“I don’t really care. That doesn’t affect me. That doesn’t affect the way I come to work. It doesn’t affect how I perform so I am just going to come to work and try to get better every day.”
