St. Louis Rams’ GM Les Snead satisfied with the progress – NFL News
After the disastrous last National Football League (NFL) season, the St. Louis Rams made rapid changes in their front office staff, expecting the new management to revamp the franchise’s tarnished image.
Rams’ new general manager, Les Snead, believes that the new management has done a lot of good work during the offseason and he is satisfied with the progress the franchise has made since the arrival of the new staff.
Apart from Snead, Rams had brought in new head coach, Jeff Fisher, who later added a few more members to his coaching unit at different positions.
The first and foremost task for the management was to prepare for the free agency and make decisions with regard to the 2012 draft, especially about the second overall pick.
Rams hired some players during the free agency market and traded down their pick twice to earn more picks in the draft so as to add more players on the roster.
Now the selection of the players is over and the next phase has begun. The entire focus of the management is now on the workouts and training session that will help select the right players for the starting line-up.
So far, the progress is good and Snead thinks that the team is going in the right direction. The GM told the
St. Louis Post-Dispatch:
“From the time we got here, progress has been made. There's no doubt about that. So we're happy where we're at. We don't want to wait till 2014 (to turn it around). But what we do want to do is be improving, be competing, be thriving — where people can feel
the momentum. And then you keep adding parts. Keep jelling as a team."
Rams’ defensive line and secondary have particularly received a great boost during the past few months.
The management has added a few players in the unit through the draft and free agency and some others are returning from the injury to participate in the upcoming season.
Snead said of this development:
"That's not a bad pairing — good defensive line and a good secondary. That usually means the quarterback's got to get things out fast, and you've got tight coverage."
Although Snead is satisfied with the way things are going now, he has to make some critical decisions before the start of the preseason games about the starting line-up.
