St. Louis Rams defensive end Chris Long hopeful of seeing better performance from team – NFL News
St. Louis Rams defensive end Chris Long knows that the team’s playoff hopes have virtually ended after their recent defeat to the Minnesota Vikings.
Before the game against the Vikings, the scenario was different, still difficult, for the Rams. They had to win their remaining three games to stay in the playoff contention through a wildcard.
Now that they have lost the game, their playoff chances are dim, but the team still has a lot to play for. The Rams have done remarkably well to improve their performance this year and finishing strongly will give them a lot of confidence.
Rams have won six games this season, losing seven and tying one. They will face Tampa Bay Buccaneers next week and will take on the Seattle Seahawks in Week 17. If the Rams win these two games, they will finish the season at third spot in National Football
Conference (NFC) West.
Rams head coach Jeff Fisher, who has taken over the duty only this season, is optimistic that the team will display better show in the rest of the games and keep its fighting spirits alive.
The same sentiments are echoed by Long, who has attempted to motivate his teammates to do better and finish the season on a positive note. According to the details present on Rams’ website, Long said of the team’s current situation in the league:
“We knew that going in and we would have had to win two more after today. So hey listen, if you can’t win the first, you can’t worry about playoffs. So I think we just need to focus on getting better as a football team. I think we have got the right guys
in here to do it and hopefully next year we will be in meaningful games in December again. But we’ve got two more weeks to get better and two more weeks to show what we can do on the field.”
The Rams management must now seriously focus every detail that can affect the development of the team. The next offseason presents a great opportunity for the management to build a strong team that could stun the entire league.
