St. Louis Rams determined to get on track after losing first preseason game – NFL News
After losing their preseason opener against the Indianapolis Colts in a disappointing manner, St. Louis Rams are determined to get on track and be ready for the regular season while getting the due practice during the rest of the preseason games.
Rams head coach Jeff Fisher, who is in his first year with the team, was certainly not pleased with the way his team was thrashed by the Colts, but he is not losing his nerves.
Instead, the head coach is hopeful that the team will bounce back and said that the preseason campaign is aimed at preparing a good squad for the regular season.
According to the details present on the team’s website, even after the humiliating defeat Fisher was able to extract some gains out of that game. He said:
“You want to win the games, but yeah, the preseason is to get ready for the regular season. It’s to fine tune and prepare and get them to a level where you’re ready to compete when the season starts. When we look at it from that perspective, yeah, we saw
some good things.”
The Colts completely dominated the Rams and did not give them any chance to accelerate. Rams conceded a touchdown in the first quarter and gave two more in the second quarter in which they also got a field goal, their only scoring move of the game.
Colts added another touchdown in the third quarter and got 10 points in the final quarter as the Rams struggled all over the place.
Rams’ regular season campaign is going to kick off with a game against Detroit Lions on September 09. Fisher has admitted that the team is not yet prepared to face the Lions, but at the same time he has said that the players are not dejected by just one
preseason defeat. He said:
“I don’t think there were many tears on the airplane coming home yesterday. What you want to see is you want to see them play hard and they did. We’ve got to play better. Believe me, we’re not ready for Detroit yet, and we will get better.”
Rams have three more preseason games to play before starting their regular season campaign.
