St. Louis Rams express mixed reaction over tie against San Francisco 49ers – NFL News
After two straight defeats against two exploding teams when the St. Louis Rams had started preparing for Week 10 game against San Francisco 49ers, they knew they had to work hard.
This was because 49ers were National Football Conference (NFC) West leaders with an impressive offence and defence, while the Rams were placed at the bottom of the division.
However, there was nothing to separate the two teams on the game day and the Rams, in fact, outclassed 49ers on a few occasions.
Rams started the game well and grabbed the lead early. They kept it safe till the third quarter, but lost control of the game in the final quarter during which the 49ers tied the score and forced the game to overtime.
As surprising as it can get, both teams got opportunity to score in overtime and both teams missed it, resulting in National Football League’s (NFL) first tie after 2008.
The result of the game did not affect position of any of the teams in the division. 49ers are still leading it at 6-2-1, while the Rams are still at the bottom with 3-5-1. However, it has increased the competition in NFC West as 49ers are now tied with Seattle Seahawks as far as number of wins is concerned.
The Rams have expressed mixed response to the outcome of the defeat. On one hand, they are happy on not getting a defeat; on the other hand, they are mourning a loss of opportunity to beat a better team.
According to the details present on the team’s website, Rams defensive end Robert Quinn said of the game’s outcome:
“I’m really not sure what to feel. We didn’t win, we didn’t lose, it’s kind of just I don’t know. It’s emotionless.”
Quarterback Sam Bradford shared his views and said:
“It’s a weird feeling. I have never been a part of a game like that before. I think the mood in this locker room is disappointment.”
Meanwhile, head coach Jeff Fisher also shared the same sentiments. He said:
“I have to say I have been doing this awhile and I don’t think I’ve ever been in a game like this. As we just told our guys, we had a number of chances to put this one away and unfortunately we didn’t.”
