St. Louis Rams getting ready for their ‘biggest challenge’ – NFL News
After their bye week before which St. Louis Rams went on to lose three games in a row, the team is gearing up for what head coach Jeff Fisher calls “ our biggest challenge to date”.
The Rams, who are currently placed at the bottom of National Football Conference (NFC) West, will take on the division leaders San Francisco 49ers in Week 10 game this Sunday.
The game is tough for Rams for a number of reasons. First, 49ers are leading the division, while Rams are struggling. Second, the game will be played at Candlestick Park. Third, 49ers can easily exploit Rams’ defensive flaws and get scoring opportunities.
Rams have recently faced a couple of very tough opponents and the game against 49ers will not be different as far as threat posed by the opposition is concerned. Rams were defeated by Green Bay Packers in Week 7 and New England Patriots in Week 8.
However, they are going to take a different approach against 49ers. According to the details present on the team’s website, Fisher said:
“The last two opponents were different as is the Niners approach. So, we’re talking about… this is going to be one of those toe-to-toe, physical, physical football games. That’s going to be our biggest challenge and the biggest test. We’ll find out about
ourselves and how we can hang in there and hold in there and make our plays from a physical standpoint.”
On the offence, Rams have struggled to convert their playing drives into scoring opportunities and this is something that can hurt them bad against the 49ers, who have a very sturdy defence.
Fisher has asserted that the Rams have dealt with a number of issues they have been facing of late, hoping that players will do well against 49ers.
Talking about working on the mistakes the Rams have made during the last few games, Fisher said:
“Typically speaking, when you emphasize something, you typically get results. We’re going to continue to emphasize it until we do. That’s what we’re doing out here. You can see we spent a lot of time down there.”
