St. Louis Rams’ head coach, Jeff Fisher, announces his coaching staff – NFL News
St. Louis Rams’ head coach, Jeff Fisher, has announced his 20-member coaching staff, which will be assisting him throughout the next National Football League (NFL) season.
Interestingly, the announcement that came on Tuesday, April 10, 2012, did not contain a replacement of Gregg Williams, who has been suspended indefinitely by the league for running an illegal bounty programme during his association with the New Orleans Saints.
Williams recently joined Rams as the franchise’s defensive coordinator, but was unable to continue his association with the team after he was found guilty of running the bounty programme.
It was expected that Rams would not bring Williams’ replacement as Fisher had already said that the management was not planning on bringing an immediate replacement.
According to some analysts, Williams’ departure and Rams’ decision of not brining his replacement might affect the team’s performance on defence. However, the team management thinks otherwise as it has shown faith in the abilities of the existing staff.
As per Fisher’s announcement, Joe Bowden will be serving as the team’s assistant linebackers’ coach. Before joining Rams, he was performing his duties at Central Oklahoma and in high school in Oklahoma.
Chuck Cecil, who served as an assistant to Fisher when both were coaching the Tennessee Titans, is the Rams’ secondary coach. Cecil will be assisted by Brandon Fisher.
Other members of the defensive coaching unit include Mike Waufle(defensive line), Dennard Wilson (defensive quality control), Clyde Simmons (assistant defensive line) and Blake Williams (linebackers).
The members of offensive coaching unit include former Jacksonville Jaguars’ tight ends’ coach Rob Boras, who will be serving the Rams in the same capacity.
Former Rutgers’ offensive coordinator, Frank Cignetti, is Rams’ new quarterbacks’ coach. Cignetti has previously served San Francisco 49ers in the same capacity.
Ray Sherman will be the wide receivers’ coach. He has also coached under Fisher at Tennessee. The other members of offensive coaching unit are Paul Boudreau, Sr. (offensive line), Ben Sirmans (running backs), Andy Dickerson (assistant offensive line), and
Andy Sugarman (offensive quality control).
Earlier when Fisher joined the Rams, he appointed former Titans’ assistant coach, Dave McGinnis, as Rams’ assistant head coach.
Furthermore, he also hired former New York Jets’ offensive coordinator, Brian Schottenheimer, as Rams’ new offensive coordinator.
With the announcement of the complete coaching staff, Rams are looking positive about next season and have seemingly got over Williams’ loss.
