St. Louis Rams’ head coach, Jeff Fisher, excited about working with new general manager, Les Snead
St. Louis Rams' head coach, Jeff Fisher, has said that he is excited about the idea of working with the new general manager, Les Snead, who was appointed by the franchise a couple of days ago.
Fisher, who himself was appointed recently, will team up with Snead to run the franchise’s affairs.
The Rams were miserable in the recently concluded National Football League (NFL) season as they ended up at the bottom of the National Football Conference (NFC) West division after playing 16 games and winning only two.
Following the failure, the then head coach, Steve Spagnuolo, and general manager, Billy Devaney, were fired with a year left in the respective contracts of both the officials.
The Rams then decided to introduce a new strategy to hire new personnel. The management opted to select a veteran coach, who would work with a relatively younger and passionate general manager to sort things out.
First of all, Rams interviewed many possible candidates for the post of head coach and ended up selecting former Tennessee Titans’ coach, Fisher.
The next step was to appoint Fisher’s subordinates and the new general manager.
Being an experienced professional, Fisher was actively involved in all the decision making process. He hired his subordinates and was consulted on an off by the management regarding appointment of the new general manager.
Finally, Snead, who was serving as director of player personnel at Atlanta Falcons, was selected as Rams’ new general manager.
Before his selection, Snead also met with Fisher, who thinks that the meeting went very well.
Fisher said:
“The exciting part about our initial visit and the time we spent was that despite the fact that we both come from two different organisations, a lot of the philosophical things were identical and it was a fit, it was a match.”
He added:
“The way he has assisted and they’ve run their personnel department is very similar to what I was used to. Just really excited about moving forward, about the innovative ideas and where we’re going to take this team.”
The first task ahead of both Fisher and Snead is the upcoming NFL drafts for which a few important decisions are needed to be made.
