St. Louis Rams head coach Jeff Fisher: We are on the right path – NFL News
The St. Louis Rams will not play in the postseason, but the entire year reflects that they have taken some bold steps that have paid them off well.
Right from trading down their second overall pick in this year’s draft to their Week 16 win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, the Rams have shown some bright signs that, if utilised properly, could make them a playoff team in the years to come.
The Rams have successfully beaten their last season’s poor record. In fact they have done much better than last year. As a result, they also have a relatively better position in the tough National Football Conference (NFC) West division.
At the start of the season, no one would have imagined the Rams would do well in presence of San Francisco 49ers, Seattle Seahawks and Arizona Cardinals in the division.
While the 49ers and Seahawks hope to clinch the division title by winning their respective regular season finales, the Rams are eyeing an undefeated run in the division.
They have so far played five games in the division. They have defeated the Cards a couple of times, won a game against 49ers and tied one, and have defeated the Seahawks once.
The Rams will face the Seahawks in the regular season finale and winning this game will be an incredible achievement, something that might make up for their loss of their playoff opportunity.
According to the details present on the Rams’ website, head coach Jeff Fisher thinks that the team has done well this season and that they are heading in the right direction. He said:
“In order to compete, in order to be a consistent playoff contender, you have to have success in the division. You have to build yourself for success in the division. I think we’re on the right path – we’re not there yet – but we’re on the right path.”
Meanwhile, quarterback Sam Bradford said:
“Just since I’ve been here this division has gotten a lot better, a lot more competitive around the league. So I think it would be real nice and say a lot about this team if we could go 5-0-1 against our division.”
