St. Louis Rams head coach Jeff Fisher delighted on victory over San Francisco 49ers – NFL News
A victory over San Francisco 49ers in Week 13 game is probably the best moment of Jeff Fisher’s first season as St. Louis Rams head coach.
49ers are rated among the best of the league, especially since Jim Harbaugh has taken charge of coaching responsibilities last season.
In his first year, Harbaugh led the team to playoffs after ending a very long drought and the 49ers appear well on course of qualifying for the playoffs second time in a row.
In such a scenario, tying a game against 49ers and then winning the next one is a commendable achievement for the Rams, who have now cemented their number 3 position in National Football Conference (NFC) West, which is still led by the 49ers.
In Week 10 game, both teams had a competitive battle, and missed opportunities from both resulted in a tie. As the Rams prepared to face the 49ers for Week 13 game, Fisher expected it to be an entirely different game.
However, there was not much difference as the game once again was forced to overtime and the scoring move came towards the end of the extra period.
Fisher has also acknowledged that the game was not much different from the previous encounter. According to the details present on the team’s website, Fisher expressed delight on getting the win and said:
“Earlier in the week I was asked about what it’s like to play a team within proximity of just recently playing them again in three or four weeks. I think I said the games are completely different, so I apologize for being absolutely wrong. Wow. That’s the
case of guys just hanging in there. Guys making plays. Guys in the three different phases just making the plays that we needed to make.”
Meanwhile, Fisher also appreciated young kicker Greg Zuerlein, who scored the game-winning goal from 54 yards. During the regulation, he missed a field goal attempt, but later tied the score with a 53-yard attempt, followed by the winning goal in overtime.
Fisher said of Zuerlein:
“It’s pretty impressive. It’s good to see him bounce back after the miss and he did. I had complete confidence him.”
