St. Louis Rams head coach Jeff Fisher highlights areas of improvement – NFL News
Halfway through the 2012 season, St. Louis Rams are 3-5. The record is certainly better than the last season, but far from being impressive.
As the Rams take some time off to rest in their bye week, they have a lot of thinking to do. Currently placed at the bottom of National Football Conference (NFC) West with a three-game losing streak at their back, the Rams are going to take on NFC West leaders
San Francisco 49ers soon after their bye.
Rams are not scoring touchdowns this season on a regular basis. Although quarterback Sam Bradford has clearly emerged as a better player than the last season, he has failed to deliver his best near the end zone. The quarterback consistently makes plays,
but he has not been able to carry the momentum to the end zone.
Similarly, Rams also have not done well on the defensive side when it comes to exerting pressure on opponents and forcing them to drop the ball.
In his first year, Rams head coach Jeff Fisher has so far noted a lot of errors that his team is committing and has done well in pointing them out. However, he is yet to see improvement and this is something that the head coach is going to focus during the
bye week.
Fisher is of the view that the bye week will help the Rams watch the tapes of previous games and ascertain areas of improvement.
According to the details present on the team’s website, Fisher highlighted areas of improvement and said:
“We have a lot of work to do in all areas.  Halfway through the season, right now, we’re not scoring touchdowns, we’re not getting takeaways. That’s going to be our focus here during the bye week.”
Fisher added:
“Highly unusual that in eight games and all the touches that are involved in eight games, our opponent has fumbled two balls and we’ve recovered one. We need to place a great deal of emphasis on that and getting the ball back. Then, of course, the numbers
are what they reflect on offense. We just needed to get the ball in the end zone.”
