St. Louis Rams head coach Jeff Fisher highlights flaws of offensive line – NFL News
Just when it had been assumed that the St. Louis Rams might be able to improve from their last season’s dreadful performance, another loss has once again pulled them back.
After a convincing victory in Week 2 game against Washington Redskins, the Rams regressed stunningly to lose their Week 3 game against Chicago Bears, going down at the bottom of National Football Conference (NFC) West with 1-2 record.
Rams offence had done well against Redskins to generate plenty of scoring drives, but against Bears the show was completely different as the entire offensive unit struggled badly to perform.
Rams scored only six points (two field goals) in the entire game as Bears crushed them.
After the defeat, Rams head coach Jeff Fisher has pointed out that there are many areas for the team to improve, but he has asserted that the offensive line needs to put a little more effort.
According to the details present on the team’s website, Fisher maintained that players as well as coaching staff must work hard to improve the offensive output. Fisher said:
“Obviously, our difficulty was on the offensive side of the ball. It ends up as a staff, you just point to little things that are all correctable and we didn’t play as well as I think we are capable. We had a lot of little mistakes that cost us here and
there and we as well as the players are encouraged about where we’re going and as long as we continue to improve, we should be OK.”
Rams were defeated in their season opener by Detroit Lions, but even in that game their offensive performance was quite better. It was equally impressive against Redskins as well, but a sudden decline in the output is worrisome. Highlighting the main problem
in the offence, Fisher said:
“Our difficulties were for the most part on third down. We had too many third-and-7 pluses.”
Rams are going to play their Week 4 game against Seattle Seahawks, who have a very strong defence and can choke the Rams. The offensive line needs to improve its output if Rams want to stay in the competition in NFC West.
