St. Louis Rams head coach Jeff Fisher highlights positive aspects of San Francisco 49ers game – NFL News
Although a victory against San Francisco 49ers in Week 10 game would have taken St. Louis Rams to new heights, a tie nevertheless is not a bad result either.
Rams had entered the game with a three-game losing streak and they did relatively well to almost seal the victory.
Before this game, they faced defeat against Miami Dolphins, New England Patriots and Green Bay Packers. Head coach Jeff Fisher had been pointing out a number of mistakes the players were making against these teams, hoping that the players would improve after
their bye against 49ers.
Fisher wanted his team to improve its performance near the end zone while the defence was urged to do better tackling. The head coach saw those improvements in the game against 49ers and was pleased with the team’s effort.
According to the details present on the team’s website, Fisher said of the team’s effort against 49ers:
“When you are playing a good overall football team like we played and you’re able to improve in those areas, there’s some positives to be taken from this game. Third down offensively was much better. We protected the football offensively. We knocked three
balls loose and had a fourth one on the ground. We didn’t recover any but at least we are getting them out. Defensively, our third down defence was better.”
He added:
“And of course last week our emphasis was to prepare ourselves for a very physical football game and we did and we hung in there.”
That being noted, the Rams must not get complacent. They are still placed at the bottom of National Football Conference (NFC) West after winning three and losing five games with one tie.
They have beaten their last season’s record, but there is still a lot more that the team can achieve before the season ends. Rams will play seven more games this season and all of them are against relatively tougher opponents. They must end the season on
a positive note so as to have a good offseason and preparation for the next season. The team is in a rebuilding phase and must consistently work on improving the errors.
