St. Louis Rams head coach Jeff Fisher hopes to be better at running games – NFL News
Although the St. Louis Rams are now not contending for a playoff berth, they still have a lot to play for, and certainly want to end the season on a positive note.
The Rams have already proved their point by beating last season’s 2-14 record, setting hopes for bright prospects in the next season.
They are currently placed at third position in National Football Conference (NFC) West, a win above the Arizona Cardinals, and can finish the season at the same spot by winning their remaining two games of the season.
The Rams are going to take on Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Week 16 and have to be very strong at rushing game. The Bucs have one of the best running defences in the league and before the Rams could generate big plays through passing games, they will need to cover
the field with the help of their running backs.
Although the Rams also are pretty strong as far as running games is concerned, their head coach Jeff Fisher has acknowledged that it will not be easy for the Rams to penetrate the Bucs’ defence.
The Rams, who recently lost a game after winning three games in a row, are hoping to finish the season strongly by defeating the Bucs in Week 16 and Seattle Seahawks in Week 17.
Fisher has a few words of advice for his team, particularly the offence. According to the details present on the Rams’ website, the head coach said:
“Convert third downs. Avoid a holding penalty in the first drive. Hard to convert a third-and-20 in the first drive of the game. We get a sack or we come out with a first down, things are going good and we get a sack. It’s just those kinds of things that
we have to avoid.”
Speaking of their game against the Bucs, Fisher said:
“We’ve got another challenge again this week. We’re playing the team that’s top, I think top in the league, in rushing defence. So, we’re going to have to, obviously, find a way to run the football and then make some plays down the field.”
