St. Louis Rams head coach Jeff Fisher satisfied with his team’s performance – NFL News
It took St. Louis Rams six defeats before getting their first victory last season, but the 2012 season is looking much more promising as they already have got two victories, matching their last year’s total number of wins, in first four games of this season.
Rams started off this season with a competitive loss against Detroit Lions and except of their Week 3 loss against Chicago Bears, Rams have been able to show competency in every game.
They have defeated Washington Redskins and recently Seattle Seahawks, who were coming off a solid defensive show against Green Bay Packers in Week 3.
Their performance has pleased their new head coach Jeff Fisher, who thinks that his players are combining nicely to display team effort.
Rams’ recent victory was pretty much emphatic. They were coming off a loss against Bears and during that game their offence had failed miserably, getting only two field goals in the entire game.
On the other hand, Seahawks were coming off a victory against Packers, who were strangled by Seahawks defence, especially in the first half.
Rams not only improved on offence in Week 4 to outscore Seahawks, they also displayed a solid show on defence.
According to the details present on the team’s website, Fisher said of Rams’ recent performance:
“I thought they did a great job. Considering the fact that we were moving people around and three different people were playing tackle last week and with all the things we had; they settled down. To keep those outside guys away from the quarterback like
they did, I thought they did an outstanding job.”
A tough task for Rams was to counter Seahawks running back Marshawn Lynch, who is among the league’s best rushers. Lynch did manage to put up a strong show, but Rams still held the edge.
Fisher said of controlling Lynch:
“It was a combination of things. It was a combination of one, playing an outstanding back, two, missed tackles, three, there was a number of times where we had a player at the point of attack that was held and unable to get off the block.”
Rams are placed at third position in National Football Conference (NFC) West with Seahawks at the bottom.
