St. Louis Rams head coach Jeff Fisher is seeking a strong defensive show from his team that faces a daunting task of playing against Arizona Cardinals this week.
Cardinals have got off to a remarkable start, winning all their four games, and are currently leading National Football Conference (NFC) West.
Rams are ranked third in the division and they can certainly improve their record with a win over Cardinals. Although it is difficult for Rams to beat Cardinals, it is not impossible, and especially in presence of a coach like Fisher, Rams can certainly
prepare a good plan to overcome Cardinals.
Cardinals have performed well on defence this season, and although they have not put up many points this season on offence, their passing game is remarkable.
According to the details present on Rams’ website, Fisher has urged his defence to pay special attention to Cardinals’ passing game, saying if the defence can control it, they will have a strong chance of winning the game.
Fisher said of Cardinals:
“They’ve got all three aspects of the passing game: they’ve got a short, intermediate passing game and then the play action and they can take their deep shots. We have to defend them back to short.”
Fisher added:
“We’ve got to make sure we don’t give up big plays, big, deep shots and then hope that we can get our hands on some balls. Kevin’s throwing the ball with accuracy and he’s completing a lot of his passes, particularly because that group knows how to get open.”
Rams have defeated Washington Redskins and Seattle Seahawks this season and have faced defeat against Detroit Lions and Chicago Bears.
Rams have already matched their last season’s number of wins as they ended up 2-14 in the 2011 season. At 2-2 now, the victories will be bonus for Rams, who have entered this season with new coaching head and many players, following the removal of former
general manager and head coach.
If Rams defeat Cardinals, it will be a great achievement for two reasons: they will defeat their current division leaders, while they will beat their last year’s record as well.
