St. Louis Rams head coach Jeff Fisher wants players to move on after loss against New England Patriots
St. Louis Rams head coach Jeff Fisher has asked his players not to get upset with the team’s recent defeat against New England Patriots, saying that the players should get themselves together and come out as a better unit after their bye week.
Rams were defeated by Patriots in a one-sided encounter in Week 8 game in which Rams only scored one touchdown while conceding 45 points.
At present, Rams are on a three-game losing streak with the defeats coming against Miami Dolphins (17-14), Green Bay Packers (30-20) and Patriots (45-7), but this is not the time to mourn these defeats.
After the bye, Rams have to face another tough challenge as they will take on San Francisco 49ers in Week 10.
The season is halfway through and the Rams have managed to win three out of their eight games. They have already recorded better statistics than last year and the important thing for them now is to ensure getting a few more victories to end the season on
a positive note.
According to the details present on the team’s website, Fisher wants his players to forget the recent defeats and focus on the next challenges. The head coach said of his talk with the players:
“The analogy that I gave them is, if we had an opportunity to go play 16 plays and we just had a bad play, can you put the bad play behind you and move on and put together eight good plays? So, that’s where we are.”
Rams have surprisingly given a number of penalties this year and that is one of the main reasons behind their defeats this season. They have also sometimes struggled to utilise any advantage on the field.
Although Rams are not a strong playoff contender, any improvement from their previous season’s performance is certainly going to please the owner and the new management. Fisher said of penalties:
“As we’re maturing, as were growing, as we’re building, we have to learn to win games and you win games by eliminating those types of things. Our penalty numbers have to come down.”
