St. Louis Rams keen on finishing strong – NFL News
Although the St. Louis Rams won their Week 16 game, their already dim playoff hopes ended when Minnesota Vikings defeated the Houston Texans.
Nevertheless, the Rams were excited to win this game and even though their playoff hopes have now ended, they still have something very important to play for.
The Rams will face the Seattle Seahawks in Week 17, and outcome of the game will be important for both these National Football Conference (NFC) West teams.
Rams (7-7-1) have never finished a season with more wins than defeats since a very long time, and if they win this weekend they will finish at 8-7-1. Also, if the Seahawks lose, their chances of clinching the division title will die. Furthermore, the Rams
have stayed unbeaten in the division this season so far and defeating the Seahawks will enable them to end the season at 5-0-1 as far as divisional opponents are concerned.
Rams quarterback Sam Bradford, who was a bit disappointed to know that his team will once again not be playing in the postseason, has hoped to win against the Seahawks. According to the details present on the team’s website, Bradford said on losing the playoff
opportunity:
“Obviously it’s frustrating. That’s why you play the game, you play for the opportunity to win championships and you obviously can’t do that if you don’t get into the playoffs so that’s a little bit disappointing but there’s still a lot ahead of us. We could
go to Seattle next week and come back with a winning record.”
Meanwhile, running back Steven Jackson seems a bit more optimistic. He too knows that the playoffs are not a possibility for the Rams this season, but the player has drawn attention towards other important issues worth playing for.
Jackson is of the view that finishing the season on a positive note is very important for the team’s plans for the next season. He said:
“We have a lot to play for: a winning season, undefeated in the division and something to build off of and go into the offseason feeling happy and strong about. And make it appealing to free agents as well.”
