St. Louis Rams look to defend home winning streak as Green Bay Packers visit – NFL Preview
This season has brought much good news for the St. Louis Rams, who have already defeated their last season’s record by winning three games this season. Also, they have not lost any game on home yet and after winning three games on home they are hoping to
win another.
In order to do that, Rams will have to clear the toughest hurdle they have come across so far in the season.
Rams will have to defeat Green Bay Packers this Sunday, October 21, 2012, at Edward Jones Dome, to achieve the feat.
Packers (3-3) are coming off a scintillating 42-24 victory over Houston Texans, who were undefeated before facing Green Bay.
This goes to show that Packers have started finding their rhythm after a slow start to the season, resulting in their regression in National Football Conference (NFC) North.
Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers has also started to gain some momentum now, and he is expected to give his hundred percent against Rams as he has recovered from a calf injury that kept him limited in a practice session earlier this week.
Packers will also have good support of their loyal fans who travel with the team to support the players. Rodgers expects the fans to support the players for this Sunday’s game as well, just like they did last week against Houston Texans. Rodgers said:
“That’s a great thing about being a part of the Packers’ organization. Our fans are very loyal and all over the country. Whether it’s Packer fans that we have in the St. Louis area there, or it’s our fans making the trip down, we always look forward to sharing
the stadium with them and hoping that they can give us a boost.”
Unlike Packers, Rams enter this game on the back of a defeat. In their last game, Rams were defeated by Miami Dolphins after a close encounter. Rams could have won that game, but they committed some errors that eventually cost them the game.
Rams head coach Jeff Fisher has urged the players not to give away penalties and turnovers, while the defence has received special dose of training as Rams will be up against some threatening offences for the next few weeks.
Rams assistant coach Dave McGinnis has advised his players not to get carried away on the field even for a moment. If the Rams want to defeat Packers, they have to be at their best throughout the game. McGinnis said:
“It’s going to be up to us. We’ve got to really, really play well and we’ve got to play well for every snap. Every snap, we’ve got to be on point because there’s no relaxing against this group.”
If Rams win this game, they can also improve their standings in NFC West.
