St. Louis Rams mourn turnovers against New York Jets – NFL News
The St. Louis Rams are finding it difficult to get their offence, defence and special teams playing collectively well during a game as lack of team effort has given them another defeat this season.
Coming off a tie against National Football Conference (NFC) West leaders San Francisco 49ers, the Rams were beaten by New York Jets in Week 11.
It has been five games since they last got a win and consistent defeats continue to push them down in NFC West.
Against Jets, Rams made a strong start and got a touchdown, but could not capitalise on the advantage and lost the game. They gave away a total of three turnovers, including one interception from quarterback Sam Bradford, while they could not force any turnover.
This is something that is bothering everyone, especially head coach Jeff Fisher, who had high expectations of this game. According to the details present on the team’s website, Fisher said after the defeat against Jets:
“We got outplayed today. We got outcoached today. Anytime you turn the ball over – I don’t care who you play in the National Football League – three times, you have a hard time if you don’t get the ball back yourself and to overcome those things and basically
that was it.”
Meanwhile, running back Steven Jackson also acknowledged that a collective effort is required if the Rams need to get consistent victories. He asserted that the defence, offence and the special teams must play well collectively to get results in their favour.
Jackson said:
“I know it’s really hard to win a game when you have minus-three turnovers. It’s just really hard to overcome that and we’ve got to help our defence out, we’ve got to help our special teams out. We have to score on offense and we’ve all got to lean on each
other.”
Rams did well earlier in the season to win a few games and beat their last season’s record, but they have not yet been able to better that record. They must take a lesson from the Indianapolis Colts, who finished last in the 2011 season and are heading towards
playoffs this season.
