St. Louis Rams pondering over possibilities for the upcoming NFL Drafts – NFL News Update
Now that St. Louis Rams are done with the appointment of all the necessary personnel, the attention is shifted towards the only gain of the recently concluded National Football League (NFL) season – the second overall pick in the upcoming NFL drafts.
After a humiliating exit from the season in which the Rams only won two games and ended at the bottom of the National Football Conference (NFC) West division, the team management took some drastic measures.
The then head coach and general manager were fired. Jeff Fisher is now the new head coach and Les Snead the new general manager.
The disappointing season provided St. Louis the second overall pick in the upcoming NFL drafts. The first pick is owned by Indianapolis Colts.
By the looks of it, the Colts are expected to draft Stanford University’s quarterback, Andrew Luck, who is expected to be the number one pick.
Baylor’ quarterback, Robert Griffin III, is hyped to be the number two pick of the draft, but the Rams are not sure whether to go after him or not.
Rams already have Sam Bradford at the quarterback position and the coach would want to continue with him.
So, it also gives room for the possibility of Rams hiring a receiver or a tackle.
On the flipside, Rams could also trade their pick with any other franchise.
Both Snead and Fisher have said that they are not ignoring any option and that the decision would not be reached anytime sooner.
The general manager and the coach are up for weighing all the options before reaching a decision.
Snead informed that he had a conversation with Fisher regarding the pick.
“Yes, we’ve had the conversation,” he said.
While discussing different possibilities, he said:
“And with that second pick, I think you ask the question because just like you, we realise there are many options with that pick. Here’s what I will tell you, we will be well prepared to take advantage of any option presented. Whether it’s trading the pick
or picking a player at that pick.”
Meanwhile, Fisher has said that he will also meet with the scouts and analyse their research before making a final decision regarding the drafts.
