St. Louis Rams prepare for yet another game with San Francisco 49ers – NFL News
A few weeks ago, St. Louis visited San Francisco to face their National Football Conference (NFC) West division leaders, 49ers, and staged a tie, much to the surprise and disappointment of everyone.
It was surprising because no one had expected such a result, and disappointing because either could have secured a win, but for their missed chances, especially in overtime.
The game was dominated by the Rams for the first three quarters. The 49ers’ registered a late surge to level the score in the regulation and the game was forced to overtime during which both teams missed what could have been game-winning opportunities.
Now as both teams once again prepare to face each other, the Rams, who have jumped up from bottom of the division at number 3 spot, are hoping to get a win.
Talking to reporters via a conference call, Rams head coach Jeff Fisher said of previous meeting with the 49ers:
“I think it’s fair to say both clubs felt the same way – disappointed. Both teams had ample opportunities to win the game and neither of us were able to. You just move on. You look at it, you correct it and you know that you’re going to pick up where you
left off in a couple weeks.”
Meanwhile, Rams cornerback Cortland Finnegan has appreciated 49ers offence that will be led by quarterback Colin Kaepernick instead of Alex Smith.
In the game that was tied, Smith was forced out after suffering a concussion and Colin replaced him. Although Smith is now fit, the 49ers have decided to start with Colin against the Rams.
The Rams have already faced both so they will not have any problem playing against either, but 49ers’ other offensive positions are also very threatening for the Rams. Appreciating the 49ers offence, Finnegan said:
“Crabtree’s a special guy, he can run all the routes.”
Finnegan mentioned other players and said:
“Randy Moss can still take the top off the defence, they’ve got two exceptional tight ends and they set up play-action well. Frank Gore is the horse and … they’ve got a good-rounded football team in every position.”
