St. Louis Rams’ quarterback, Sam Bradford, misses practice – NFL News
Owing to an ankle injury, St. Louis Rams’ quarterback, Sam Bradford, did not practise on Wednesday. However, there are still slight chances of his participation in the game against San Francisco 49ers on Sunday, and coach Steve Spagnuolo has said that the
decision about Bradford’s inclusion in the line-up would be made later.
The trainers were working with him from last couple of days, but the ankle did not respond well. The coach has said that he is going to wait and see how his quarterback feels in the coming days before making the final call.
“We are still optimistic that maybe we can get him there. It’s only Wednesday and the game is Sunday so we’ll see where we’re at,” Spagnuolo said.
Bradford, who has missed the last two games, has been suffering from the ankle injury throughout the season. The injury has forced him out of five games.
He has only played 10 games in which he completed 191 passes of 357 attempts for 2,164 yards while throwing six touchdowns and six interceptions. He has a quarterback rating of 70.5.
The Rams have only won two games this season. After 13 defeats, they are placed at the bottom of the National Football Conference (NFC) West division.
The team’s record is adding to the frustration of Bradford, who is desperate to get back on the field. When the Rams face their division champions in the final game of the regular season, Bradford wants to start it.
He hoped that he would work out well and get clearance from the trainers before the game. He said:
"Yeah, it's been very frustrating. Especially the fact that I was able to come back and play three or four games and it was getting better. It was starting to feel better. It was starting to feel like it was, obviously not normal, but getting closer to normal.
Then after the second time that I reinjured it, it's just really never overcome that."
If Bradford does not play, it is expected that Kellen Clemens would start the game. Clemens is playing his first season with the Rams. He started his professional career with New York Jets in 2006.
This season, Clemens has started two games in which he has completed 34 passes of 64 attempts for 320 yards. He has thrown only one touchdown and successfully avoided throwing any interception. He has got a quarterback rating of 77.1. He also played the
last game against Pittsburgh Steelers, where the Rams fail to score even a single point.
