St. Louis Rams quarterback Sam Bradford appreciates defence – NFL News
On the day when the offence struggled to penetrate the San Francisco 49ers defence, the St. Louis Rams defence rescued the team to upset the National Football Conference (NFC) West division leaders.
The Rams defence sacked the 49ers quarterback at a crucial stage to earn safety points, while it also took advantage of the player’s inaccurate pass and got hold of the ball on a fumble that was returned for a touchdown.
Apart from providing scoring moves, the Rams defence did well to contain the 49ers offence for most part of the game. 49ers got only one scoring move in the first quarter while they could not get past the Rams defence in the second and third quarters.
49ers could only get two field goals in the fourth quarter and did not get anything out of overtime. Rams quarterback Sam Bradford, who was 26 of 39 for 221 yards with no touchdown, has appreciated the defence.
According to the details present on the team’s website, Bradford said of the defensive line:
“Can’t say enough about them. They played great and it’s just one of those things. I saw them before the game in the locker room, just their attitude, the way they were acting. They had their music on and I just got a sense that they were going to go out
and play great today and sure enough that’s exactly what they did. You can’t say enough about them today.”
Defensive end Chris Long termed the defence’s performance the best. He said:
“Just in that we were able to score points. On days when the offence isn’t clicking the way they want to exactly…hey, the offence made some plays when they had to.”
The Rams have now won two games in a row, and if they win their rest of the regular season games, they can have a shot at a wildcard playoff berth, though it is a long shot.
Nevertheless, they are in a much better position than last season that they finished with only two victories. So far they have already won five games, lost six and tied one this season and have four more games to play.
