St. Louis Rams’ quarterback Sam Bradford wants to prove his worth – NFL News
St. Louis Rams’ quarterback, Sam Bradford, who was the first overall pick in the National Football League (NFL) 2010 drafts, is yet to prove his mettle in the league, but he sees the next season as an opportunity to showcase his actual talent; something
for which he was drafted.
Bradford’s performance in the two seasons he has played for the team has not been very impressive. In his rookie year, he played and started all the 16 games of the regular season, completing 354 passes of 590 attempts for 3,512 yards. He also sent 18 touchdown-passes
and 15 interceptions and received a quarterback rating of 76.5.
In the last NFL season, which was a utter humiliation for the Rams, Bradford could only play 10 games in which he completed 191 passes of 357 attempts for 2,164 yards. He threw six touchdown-passes and six interceptions and received a quarterback rating
of 70.5.
Bradford was unable to play all the games last season owing to an ankle injury, which, he thinks, has been treated properly now.
“Obviously last year was very disappointing as far as the injury, my performance,” he said.
The quarterback added:
“It just wasn’t up to par with what I expected from myself. So there’s no doubt that I’m extremely excited to get back out there this year and prove to myself and to everyone else that I can be the type of player I think I can be.”
Bradford will have a new coaching staff to work with in the current season. The new coach has apparently showed confidence in him.
After the dismal performance in the last season, Rams got a second overall pick in the upcoming NFL drafts, but they recently traded that pick to the Washington Redskins, implying that they were not in a mood to draft a quarterback and would continue with
Bradford on the starting line-up in the next season.
Rams’ new head coach, Jeff Fisher, also thinks that Bradford deserves another chance. He said of the player:
“It’s his vision, release, accuracy – it’s all those things that we expected to see. He’s picking things up very, very quickly. The accuracy, I think, if you have to pick one thing, it would be that. The ball’s just in the right place every time.”
Rams have started their offseason workout programme and Bradford is looking forward to extracting all the possible gains out of it.
