St. Louis Rams ready to trade number two draft pick - NFL News
It is confirmed that number one draft pick Andrew Luck will be heading to Indianapolis Colts but there is still doubt where number two draft pick, Robert Griffin III will end up.
The St. Louis Rams hold the number two draft pick after going 2-14 in the regular season but according to multiple sources, the Rams are definitely looking to trade the pick with other franchises to fill other holes in their roster.
Rams Chief operating officer Kevin Demoff confirmed that St. Louis will trade their pick for the opportunity to bring in other players at different positions.
"I think coach Fisher and Les have been upfront that we will listen to offers for the #2 pick, I didn't see anything in the report that differed from their statements."
The Rams are set to keep faith with the 2010 number one overall draft pick quarterback Sam Bradford and are reportedly looking for a wide receiver and an offensive tackle to provide better targets for Bradford in the 2012-13 season.
With Griffin III unlikely to end up with the Rams it remains to be seen which franchise will give the best offer to St. Louis so that they can land the young Heisman Trophy winner.
Potential destinations include Miami Dolphins who have had problems at the quarterback position for years, while Washington Red Skins and Cleveland Browns are also in the running to trade with the Rams.
Head coach Jeff Fisher has maintained throughout the offseason that he has full faith that quarterback Sam Bradford will come good. He excused the Rams poor season down to injuries in the offensive line and the lack of options for the quarterback.
Fisher who is currently monitoring the draft entrants at the National Football League (NFL) Combine will be looking closely at the progress of offensive tackle Matt Kalil and wide receiver Justin Blackmon as they look to shore up the offensive line before
the start of the new season.
Bradford ended the 2011-12 season after covering just 2,164 yards and throwing six touchdown passes as his season was hampered by injury and the lack of options ahead of him.
The Rams will look to maximise their returns from the trade as they look to make a fresh start under their new head coach.
