St. Louis Rams seek second straight victory as Chicago Bears host them – NFL Preview
St. Louis Rams have so far done well to leave the dreadful memories of the 2011 National Football League (NFL) season behind. They started this season with a loss in a competitive game and were able to win their Week 2 game.
As they prepare for Week 3 game against Chicago Bears, Rams are hoping to set up a winning streak that could help them completely forget the failures of last season. The game will be played on Sunday, September 23, at Soldier Field, Chicago.
Bears, on the other hand, have the same record as Rams after two games. However, Bears are struggling badly on offence as well as defence and their performance in the last game was particularly miserable.
Rams enter this encounter with a victory in the last game, while Bears lost their Week 2 game.
In their first game of the season, Rams give some tough time to the ferocious and aggressive Detroit Lions, who have a pretty assertive defensive line. In Week 2 game, they dominated Washington Redskins.
As for Bears, they won their Week 1 game against Indianapolis Colts, while lost the next game against the explosive Green Bay Packers.
Bears’ offence was nothing against Packers and their quarterback Jay Cutler was one of the sorry tales of the game for Chicago. Cutler threw four interceptions in the game while gaining only 126 yards.
Although Rams’ defence has some weaknesses as compared to Packers’ defence, if Bears do not strengthen their offensive line they can end up struggling even against St. Louis.
Like Bears, Rams, too, expect Cutler to give much better display and improve on his accuracy. Rams head coach Jeff Fisher is of the view that the quarterback is capable of bouncing back. He said:
“Well, Jay’s, I think if you look at his history, he’s pretty good at bouncing back. His issues weren’t his issues, they were, the fact that they played a pretty good defence in Green Bay. So, he’ll bounce back and then just hope it’ll take at least another
week to bounce back.”
Meanwhile, Bears’ defence also needs some work to do as they face quarterback Sam Bradford-led Rams’ offence. Bradford is so far looking good and his performance in the preseason and the first two games of the season has received praise.
Bears linebacker Brian Urlacher said of Bradford:
“He is a big guy.”
The linebacker added:
“He has been sacked a little bit, but those are longer-down situations. He is very decisive with the football. He gets rid of it and he’s got a cannon. He’s got all the qualities you want in your quarterback.”
If Rams are able to further improve their offensive performance while putting some pressure on Bears’ offensive line they have a strong chance of winning this encounter.
