  1. We just had our honeymoon in June at Sandals Regency in St. Lucia.  We had an absolute amazing time.  We visited all three resorts on the island and the Regency was by far our favorite.  The Halcyon was a bit small for our tastes and the Grande had nice beaches but overall we loved the Regency.  Everything was perfect.  The food was just okay.  Some meals were better than others but we weren't expecting 5 star gourmet so we still were happy.  We never had bad service and our room was great.  Newly remodeled, and looked over the ocean.  Please feel free to email me with any questions, I can tell you what activities we did and I will send pictures if you would like some.  =)  I would HIGHLY reccommend the Regency.  One more thing, if you do go to tripadvisor.com and read the reviews, take them with a grain of salt.  Some people are EXTREMELY picky and overly critical.  I read a lot of reviews before I went and was a little nervous but we didn't experience any of the things that people have complained about.  We are very laid back and we had the time of our lives.  I have included a link to my tripadvisor review.  Good luck.

  2. Sandals are great properties for honeymoons and St. Lucia would be an awesome choice. Another poster mentioned that there are three Sandals on the island and all have their own special atmosphere. The Halcyon is the oldest of the three, but from what I've heard and read, very intimate, friendly and the most "Caribbean" of the three. I think a lot of Americans go to a beautiful place like St. Lucia looking for a typical island adventure and then are surprised by what they see and experience. When I want to learn about a new place, the first place I turn to is tripadvisor.com. When the first page comes up, type in St. Lucia and you'll have tons of information including very helpful forums. Good luck and congratulations on your upcoming wedding.

  3. I've been to a few of the Caribbean lslands and my favorite so far is St Lucia. There are 3 Sandals resorts in St Lucia. when you pay to stay at any one, you can spend time at all three because they're all-inclusive. We loved the Sandals Grande which is located near Pigeon lsland, the setting for the famous St Lucia Jazz festival. A climb to the top will give you the most breath taking views of St Lucia and neighboring Martinique.

  4. We spent one day on St Lucia while on a cruise.  It is a beautiful island, but very poor.  If you venture outside of the resort, expect to be solicited for all sorts of items, and do not take a picture of any native islander unless you're prepared to pay.

The cruise line offered escorted excursions and we took one, that provided a bus trip throughout the countryside, through the banana plantations, down to a fishing village, up to the volcano, and past the Pitons, the island's signature landmark.  You can probably hire your own private cab to take you and you will see more for less money.  Haggling over price is expected.
