St Mirren ban newspapers from dressing room
St Mirren manager Danny Lennon has imposed a ban on newspapers in the dressing rooms and around the clubs Ralston training ground.
The Paisley club just avoided relegation last season and are currently second from bottom in the Scottish Premier League this season. The manager believes that by banning papers from the dressing room, he will create a more optimistic and positive dressing
room. St Mirren have been strongly tipped to be relegated this season and this has been the case prior to the club starting the new season.
Lennon believes that the players will be affected by what they read and said, “We feel people have written us off even before a ball was kicked. We don’t want players having a look and psychologically seeing that they are down there.”
St Mirren find themselves in 11th place and have only taken 4 points from five games. However, they are only 4 points off third place and are on the same points as Inverness, St Johnstone and bottom of the table Hamilton Academic.
Lennon added, “At the moment it is only a win that separates you from getting back up the table. A lot of journalists are not giving us a chance, but it is still early days and the table is stilling trying to sort itself out. Basically, the players can pick
up the vibes and take it negatively so you’ve got to be strong. They probably read them all when they are out of here, but when they are in this environment, the only thing I want myself surrounded with is positivity.”
St Mirren’s task of staying in the Premier League has got that much hard after it was revealed that midfielder Steve Thomson will be out with an injury for four to six weeks.
