St Mirren striker desperate to beat Hamilton Academical
On-loan St Mirren striker Paul McGowan claims he does not care how his side wins their Scottish Premier League match against Hamilton Academical on Satruday 27 November, as long as they pick up all three points at New Douglas Park.
Both sides are struggling in the SPL — Hamilton are in last place with just nine points from 14 games while the Buddies are only three points ahead in 10th place.
While St Mirren would move six points ahead of Accies with a victory, McGowan, who is on loan at Saints from SPL giants Celtic, is well aware that his side's opponents will be going all out to pick up the victory and is certain that the game will not be
an example of attractive football.
According to the Daily Record, he said: "It will be a battle. It won't be a pretty match but if we do what we've been doing I'm sure we can get a result. If we have to win ugly we'll take that. When we weren't winning we'd have taken any kind of win. But
we have had a few breaks, we have started playing well and it's beginning to fall into place now. We won against Dundee United when no one gave us a chance up there.
"It would be a huge psychological boost if we win but we know Hamilton are a good side. They are scoring and I'm not sure how many games they've taken the lead in. Hamilton have struggled a bit like us at times this season but I'm sure they'll find their
form as they have good players. We just need to keep doing what we have been doing.”
The match marks the second game between the clubs this season. In their previous encounter, in October, the Buddies came from two goals down to claim a 2-2 draw against their relegation rivals.
