Question:

Stabbing Chest Pain in the Lower Left Lung?

Specs:

19 yr old male, tons of stress, adopted so no family medical history.

I find that around 3-4 times a day I get this short stabbing feeling in my lower left lung. I find I cant get a good breath in without increasing the pain so I find I will take small breaths for 5-15 seconds till this leaves. I also am light headed often (figure its from the constant blazing though.) and I get small not painful but noticeable pressure on the left lung every so often as well as laying in a chiar causes discomfort in the left lung.

I am not sure what exactly to do about this, however there really isn't any clinc's out here that you can get in for 3 hours without a reservation.

Anyone have a very similar experience or know what it is?

  1. Could be a number of things.  Phnemonia can cause chest pain.  Does it worsten when you bend over?  If it does I would possible consider that.

Also, It is not uncommon for young white males at your age..I dont know why it is particulare to white males, but it is more common in them, to blow a whole in their lung for no particulare reason...

If it is really very bothersom or uncomfortable, I would contact your doctor.  You can call one, I am sure your Doctors office has a Doctor on call you can call and speak with.

Good luck, and hope you feel better

  2. Hahaha, i laugh at the people that answered above me. No it has nothing to do with your lung. I am 15 years old, under lots of stress from school, and have exact same pains as you do. I have had these pains for now 7-8 years. I dont get them as often as 3-4 times a day, but i get them once every day at least. Mine last 30 sec - 2 min usually and i have to stop in place until the pain goes away. Usually it starts when at rest. This could be either one of 2 things, you have chostocondritis, or "catch" syndrome. My doctor doesnt know which one it is, however, they are both relatively the same. It isnt something to worry about, however, still get it checked by a doctor.

My family history shows no signs of these things, so it is not genetic.

  3. Your lung could be partially collapsed, especially if you are tall and lean.

It's very common in white, tall, thin teenage males.

I would definitely go to the doctor, because it can get worse.  This happened to my boyfriend, he totally ignored it until his entire lung collapsed and hes was in the hospital for a week.

It is fixable though so no worries.
