Question:

Stabbing Pain in Neck and Chest?

I was sitting in a hearing earlier today, and started to get a sharp stabbing pain just above my collarbone on the left side of my neck. It almost felt like it was under my collarbone. It was very uncomfortable, and I tried to rub it, thinking maybe I had a knot in a muscle.

Then, the pain continues down into my chest, mainly on the left side. It didn't feel like a muscle issue, it felt like it was inside my chest. It hurt worse when I took a deep breath. This lasted for about 30 minutes. Now, it's not nearly as sharp as it was a few minutes ago, but rather a dull ache.

Should I be worried? Could it just be a muscle pain? I'm a 27 year old female, and I am moderately overweight.

  1. Any time you have unexplained chest pain you should get it checked by a doctor.  I doubt you have anything to worry about, since you're really young to have heart problems, but this is one of those situations where it's really better to rule things out than to assume that everything's OK.
