Stability observed in Olympique Lyonnais finances after first quarter review – Ligue 1 news
If the financial results of the previous fiscal year did not make a good reading for http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Olympique-Lyonnais-c40130 president Jean-Michel Aulas, the Frenchman now has a reason to smile once again.
Actions taken to recover the financial standings of the Rhone club have certainly born fruit. Les Gones have been living precariously in the past few months. The valuation of certain players allowed Aulas to propose a plan of balancing the budget. For the
previous fiscal year, Les Gones announced a net loss of 28 million Euros which was less that the loss of the year precedent to last year (36 million Euros).
The club president has now set up an austerity plan in which the club is not looking to recruit expensive players. The Rhone club is now looking to put more money on the training centre and via its excellent scouting network, Lyon are now looking to unearth
talents from Ligue 2 with Kone the biggest example of the recruitment policy.
The wage policy has also been revised as the seven-time Championelle winners are getting back on track.
Recently, OL Groupe released its figures for the first quarter of the fiscal year 2011/2012. The results are quite remarkable for the club as the OL generated a revenue of 48 million Euros in the first quarter which is 39% more than the revenue generated
in the beginning of 2011.
main reasons behind this significant improvement are advertisement partnerships that saw a growth of almost 100% amounting to 9.1 million Euros thanks to the arrival of new sponsors for both the men’s team (Renault Trucks, Veolia Environnement)
and for the women’s team (Renault Trucks and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/GDF-c39411 Suez).
The sale of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Roma-c31603 allowed Les Gones to recover 10.3 million Euros.
Marketing rights (LFP, FFF and UEFA) jumped revenues to 25% and now amount to 20.8 million Euros compared to 15.8 million Euros in the previous year.
This increase is largely due to a good start to the 2011/2012 Championnat and also due to the bonus given by UEFA on marketing and TV rights from last season’s edition of the UEFA Champions League.
The signs are great indeed for coach Remi Garde who has a young team at his disposal and with rumours surrounding a possible takeover of the club in the near future, Les Gones can now dare dream of winning trophies once again.
