Stacelita declared the favourite and drew post number 2 for the Breeders’ Cup Filly and Mare Turf
The Grade 1, $2 million Emirates Airline Breeders’ Cup Filly and Mare Turf has drawn a field of 12 fillies and mares and the multiple grade 1 winner 5-year-old mare Stacelita has been declared as the 2 to 1 for the 4 November race at Churchill Downs.
Martin Schwartz owned Stacelita has drawn well and will break from post number 2 under jockey Ramon Dominguez for trainer Chad C. Brown.
The Breeders’ Cup Filly and Mare Turf is run over at a distance of 1 3/8 miles and the race had drawn 12 runners among which is some serious talent with the likes of Dubawi Heights, Aruna, Perfect Shril and Shared Accounts.
Stacelita who got into her stride at the right time, has had a pretty good run since she came to North America under Chad Brown’s supervision.
She kicked off her American campaign at Monmouth Park when she participated in the Grade 1 United Nations Stakes over at 1 3/8 miles and turned in an impressive performance under jockey J Bravo as the pair finished third behind winner Teaks North and runner
up Chinchon.
Sent to Arlington Park for her second start on American soil, Stacelita came out as the victor in the Grade 1 Beverly D. Stakes over at Arlington Park’s turf course on 13 August, 2011, where she managed to defeat her now Filly and Mare Sprint rival Dubawi
Heights with the winning time of 1 minute and 57.57 seconds.
2 in 2 for Stacelita at Belmont Park when the experienced mare put her talent and class on display in the Grade 1 Flower Bowl to down Distorted Legacy and Dynaslew over at 1 ¼ miles on 1 October, 2011.
She managed to cover the one and a quarter mile distance in 2 minutes and 10.39 seconds. Stacelita will be aiming for her first American hat-trick in the Breeders’ Cup Filly and Mare Turf.
Trainer Graham Motion is sending off two contestants, the 6 to 1 Aruna and Shared Account at the odds of 30 to 1.
The second and third choices on the morning line are both European runners, Nahrain at 7 to 2 and Announce at 9 to 2.
