Stacey Keating among stars who came out of nowwhere in 2012
Australian Stacey Keating is one of the few LET (Ladies European Tour) stars who came out of nowhere in the 2012 season, despite their critics painted a grim picture of their efforts.
Keating could not make the biggest headline this year. But her sudden emergence after she displayed a stellar performance in some of the tournaments is enough to reflect what the Aussie golfer
has been up to.
Keating stormed onto the scene after she won the Tenerife Open, held in Spain in late September. The tournament featured big names, but Keating was too fired up to putt her way through to
top of the leaderboard.
Like the LPGA (Ladies Professional Golf Association) Tour, the LET is also packed with grizzled pros and ambitious young guns. However, Keating did not show for a moment that she was under
pressure.
Coming on strong at the Ladies Scottish Open, the LET titan recorded a fourth-place finish. She carded an overall score of 214.
Another factor that gives a glimpse of how the star golfer has been coming along on the rocky road of pro career is ISPS Handa Order of Merit listing. She stunned the golf world after she
surged to the sixth place in the money race.
It was done. She succeeded in showing the world that she has plenty of golf left in her, and she could pose a threat to rivals in the 2013 season.
Observers said that the young star is likely to further improve her position next year. They said that if she had played like Carlota Ciganda and Caroline Masson in the 2012 season, it would
not have a shocker at all.
She was getting closer to the star performers of the season after her triumph, but missing the cut in two tournaments early in the year stopped her advances.
She could not pull off a big show at the season finale Omega Dubai Ladies Masters 2012 as well. Keating shot an overall score of 285, finishing 34th on the leaderboard.
The Sanya Ladies Open was another downer that saw her card a total score of 218, finishing 24th position on the leaderboard.
Ciganda, who made a quick charge in the lineup after winning two tournaments, won the money race and grabbed the Rookie of the Year title too.
Sharing her thoughts during her latest interview, the Spanish star said that she has done well throughout the season. “I really enjoyed playing in Europe: the players were very good and very
nice with me.  It's like a family so it's really nice”.
