Stacey Tadd captures Women’s 200m breast-stroke title - British Gas ASA National Championships 2011
After the scintillating performance of Robbie Renwick in the 200m freestyle final, another British sensation, Stacey Tadd came out strongly and clinched the Women’s 200m breast-stroke title over Molly Renshaw and Hannah Miley, with a sterling time of 2 minutes
and 27.37 seconds at the Manchester Aquatics Centre in Sheffield, on June 15, 2011.
Tadd was leading her competitors due to her strong speed and stamina, in front of the sold out Sheffield crowd present in the arena. The meet witnessed a tight finish, as Renshaw lost the race with a fringe margin of 0.30 seconds.
She captured silver title in the corresponding meet with a distinctive time of 2 minutes and 27.67 seconds.
While speaking on her performance, Tadd said, “It's an amazing feeling to make the team as a vital step on the road to London 2012. I'm just relieved to have won and posted that time. It’s needed a lot of hard work but I'm there and can enjoy it.”
She further told that she was really nervous about the end as she could only see Renshaw, but she kept moving towards the closing stages of the meet. Tadd was ecstatic about her victory, as it comes at a good time with the 2012 London Olympics to be held
next year.
Hannah Miley grabbed the bronze title in the Women’s 200m breast-stroke final with a time of 2 minutes and 28.95 seconds.
Commenting on her performance in the 200m breast-stroke, Renshaw said, “I wasn't expecting that at all - I've not rested and was hoping for a 2:29. so to go 2:27 is unbelievable. I didn't intend to make the team but I'm not complaining as it’s an amazing
achievement for me.”
In another event in the championships, Rachel Lefley took home the Women’s 50m butter-fly crown with a winning time of 27.38 seconds. Lucy Worrall secured the second position on the podium with a competitive time of 27.66 seconds, while Tilly Gray captured
the bronze medal in a time of 27.78 seconds.
