Stacey Tadd conquers Women’s 200m breaststroke semi-final – British Gas Swimming Championships
Stacey Tadd of Bath University conquered the Women’s 200m breaststroke semi-final on day five of the 2012 British Gas Swimming Championships at the London Aquatics Centre on Wednesday, March 7.
The British Gas meet is an eight-day tournament, which is subject to finalise the Great Britain’s squad for the 2012 London Olympic Games.
The 23-year-old Tadd remained prominently ahead of her competitors throughout the four-lap breaststroke discipline. She devastated hopes of her challengers and proved her eligibility for the top qualification spot in the playoff by completing her race in
a time of 2 minutes and 27.60 seconds.
Tadd remained almost two seconds faster from her following swimmer, Molly Renshaw of Derventio, who appeared on the finishing blockade for second position by clocking an effort of 2 minutes and 29.39 seconds.
The third finest spot of the race was secured by British expert, Hannah Miley, who stayed 0.92 seconds slower from her foregoing competitor and ended her swim in a time of 2 minutes and 30.31 seconds. Miley was chased by Carmella Kitching of Ortus Lon, who
suffered a deficit of almost one second and settled on the finishing end as fourth best finisher by posting 2 minute and 31.43 seconds.
Next was the semi-final of Men’s Open 200m Individual Medley (IM), where Co Cardiff’s Ieuan Lloyd dictated terms to his challengers and ended his swim in a time of 1 minute and 59.39 seconds. The top qualifying swimmer remained 1.16 seconds faster from his
strongest rival, James Goddard of Stockport Mo, who qualified into the final round as second best swimmer with the timing of 2 minutes and 00.55 seconds.
Goddard enjoyed an advantage of 0.60 seconds over his following swimmer, Joseph Roebuck of Loughborough University, who snatched third fastest spot of the event by producing a time of 2 minutes and 01.15 seconds. Roebuck was traced by Daniel Wallace of Warrender
Ba, who remained 0.26 seconds slower and clocked 2 minutes and 01.41 seconds for fourth qualifying position.
The arena went wild with the commendable struggles of all participants in their exclusive events whereas the session ended after the conclusion of all planned races.
