Stacey Tadd earns Women’s 200m breaststroke gold: Day six – British Gas Swimming Championships
Stacey Tadd of Bath University earned gold medal of the Women’s 200m breaststroke on sixth day of the 2012 British Gas Swimming Championships at the London Aquatics Centre on Thursday, March 8.
The British Gas meet provides a chance to their national swimmers to prove their qualification into the British team for the 2012 London Olympic Games.
The 23-year-old Tadd displayed her phenomenal skills in the distant breaststroke event. With her invincible efforts, she earned her way to the top of victory stand for gold medal by producing a time of 2 minutes and 26.63 seconds.
Her tremendous effort remained 0.18 seconds ahead of Derventio’s Molly Renshaw, who followed her on the victory stand for silver medal by clocking a time of 2 minutes and 26.81 seconds.
Renshaw faced not trouble for securing the second fastest spot of the event as she remained prominently ahead of her following swimmer, Hannah Miley, who ended third in the event by completing her swim in a time of 2 minutes and 28.46 seconds.
Next was the final of equivalent event in Men’s category, where Calum Jarvis continued his supremacy over his challengers and snared gold medal of the event with the timing of 1 minute and 59.48 seconds.
The gold medallist remained in a lead of 0.31 seconds over Marco Loughran of Guilford Ct, who finished second in the event. Loughran stayed almost one stroke slower from his preceding finisher and seized second best spot of the race by posting a time of 1 minute and 59.79 seconds.
The second position holder of the event was trailed by Chris Walker-Hebborn of Ellesmere Co, who was just 0.01 seconds slower from overpowering the efforts of his former finisher and emerged on the finishing wall in a time of 1 minute and 59.80 seconds for bronze medal.
Walker-Hebborn was trailed by Craig McNally of Warrender Ba, who stayed 0.11 seconds behind and hit the wall with an effort of 1 minute and 59.91 seconds for fourth position.
Furthermore, the crowd enjoyed thrilling performances of all swimmers whereas the position holders received accolades for their notable efforts after the session.
