Question:

Stacks on mill?

I've heard this term,but I have no idea what it means,can someone please help clarify,perhaps even leave a link to a picture or more in depth explanation

  1. Its from an old English game, where one man would be wrestled to the ground, then all the others would pile on top of him. Used to be called Sacks on the mill.

  2. Hmmm, like so many expressions I have no idea where it came from but the basic idea is heaps of guys jumping on top of each other. Think back to when you were twelve and were rumbling with your mates, someone would cry "Stacks on!" and everyone would jump on top of the poor guy on the bottom and try to squash him. This seems to have carried through to professional football so when some poor guy on the bottom has the ball all the others jump on him till there's five or six squashing him (even from his own team), then the commentator cries "Stacks on the mill".

    Not sure what the mill has to do with it though.
