Stacy Lewis determined to win at Mobile Bay LPGA Classic 2012
Stacy Lewis, who played surprisingly well in the 2011 Mobile Bay LPGA Classic, is seeking to participate in the 2012 edition with an even more solid strategy.
The 27-year-old Lewis stunned the spectators in the last event of the Mobile Bay LPGA Classic, as she finished 5th.
The 2012 edition slated to be played at the Magnolia Grove’s Crossings Course, is expected to feature a strong field, as most of the key LPGA (Ladies Professional Golf Association) players have confirmed their participation.
Beating titans like the current world number one Yani Tseng and Lexi Thompson in the tournament last year reflects that the American star has resilience, and she can give a tough time to any player.
The Mobile Bay LPGA Classic is very special for Lewis, as she had desperately been seeking to join the roster before receiving her pro card.
Analysts said that the American prodigy looks solid this year, as she is determined to win the title. Coming close to triumph in the last edition boosted her confidence and this is why she has been training hard on the practice range for the last few months.
“I've grown so much and I have so much confidence now. I know I can play with the best players in the world,” the American said.
Lewis’s performance in the current season has been stunning — a factor likely to help her inflict a defeat on her rivals in the Mobile Classic 2012.
Tournament officials said that the tournament will feature a strong 144-player field. Some of the prominent LPGA stars who are confirmed to participate include Se Ri Pak, Karrie Webb, Christina Kim, Natalie Gulbis, Lexi Thompson and the defending champion
Maria Hjorth.
American players have a massive representation in the event, which will spice up the Mobile Bay Classic — something even the Tournament Director Jonathan Romeo conceded to in his interview.
Romeo said that American players usually trigger interest in fans and other players.
“Anytime you have the top American players Cristie Kerr, Paula Creamer, Stacy Lewis and Brittany Lincicome (all ranked in the top 10 of the Rolex Women's World Golf Rankings), plus crowd favorites like Christina Kim, Morgan Pressel and Natalie Gulbis, we
are in for a great week of entertaining golf in Mobile," the Director said.
