Stacy Lewis eyes title at Manulife Financial LPGA Classic 2012
American Stacy Lewis, who now ranks second in the Women’s World Golf Rankings, is gearing up to participate in the Manulife Financial LPGA Classic 2012, scheduled to be played from June 21-24, at Waterloo,
Canada.
Lewis is regarded as one of the favourite contenders for the prestigious tournament, as she is playing well in the current season. Having racked up two LPGA (Ladies Professional Golf Association) titles so
far in the 2012 season, the American star is set to add more shine to her already-stunning profile.
Analysts said that Lewis may find it hard to score well because of the strong field that also features players like Paula Creamer of the United States, Suzann Pettersen, Ai Miyazato, Lexi Thompson, Sandra Gal
and others.
Analysts also said that the final outcome of the tournament is hard to predict, but the rising star appears to be in a stronger position.
They pointed out that the last two events have shown that lesser-known contenders can also pose a serious threat to the top-ranked LPGA stars.
Speaking to the media about her stunning form, Lewis said that the event in Canada is brining plenty of opportunities for her. She shared that her biggest goal for the season is to seize the top spot in world
rankings, but she has a long way to go.
However, the ambitious star was keen to point out that her commitment to the sport has finally paid off in terms of improved ranking. She said that she boosted her ranking to the 2nd in the world,
which reflects that she is moving ahead.
“It's pretty cool. I mean, it's crazy to think of that just a couple months ago I was pretty far behind Yani, and I played some really good golf the last couple weeks and it's been fun, but I have to keep doing
it,” the 27-year-old golfer said.
Lewis went on to say that her putting has improved to a great extent, which is helping her greatly. “I would say as far as golf, it's been my putting. I think I've putted really well. Even when I haven't hit
it that well, I made some key putts to keep rounds going”.
