Stacy Lewis eyes title at the US Women's Open 2012
American Stacy Lewis is happy with how she is performing these days, and the US Women’s Open 2012 set to be played this week is definitely going to give her another good opportunity to prove her mettle in professional golf.
Lewis has established herself as one of the best golfers in the world in the last couple of months after her performance in the last three matches earned her the second spot in the Women’s World Golf Rankings.
The American golfer has excellent putting average, good swing, ball control skills and most importantly, an eye for title. However what sets her apart from the rest of the contenders is the determination to keep moving ahead in the world rankings.
Analysts said that there are plenty of battle-hardened stars in the roster of the US Women’s Open, but Lewis will be the star to keep an eye on.
The third major event of the year 2012 will be held from July 5-8, at Blackwolf Run, America, with the presence of players like the current world number one Yani Tseng, Paula Creamer, first Chinese major winner Shanshan Feng, Karrie Webb, So Yeon Ryu, Cristie
Kerr, I.K. Kim, Ai Miyazato of Japan, Se Ri Pak and Suzann Pettersen, Morgan Pressel and Azahara Munoz.
Lewis spoke to the media during the Walmart NW Arkansas Championship 2012, expressing confidence in her capabilities. She said that she has learned to play in tough conditions, which is helping her improve her position in world rankings.
“It's more of a mindset.  I think in the past I've gotten there and when you're up in contention, you're kind of protecting where you are, you're protecting you want to stay in the Top 10 or Top 5,” the world number two said.
Lewis pointed out that she had been experimenting with various approaches on the course, but now she has adopted a strategy, which is proving lucky for her.
“Now I feel like I can go out there and make birdie on any hole and keep moving myself up the leaderboard and it's almost a fear factor of not being afraid to fail and to hit a bad shot.  It's just really changed my approach to how I play different holes”.
