Stacy Lewis firm to continue winning form
American Stacy Lewis, who won the Mizuno Classic 2012 in impressive style, is going to take on rivals at the upcoming Lorena Ochoa Invitational 2012, set to start from November 8-11, at the Guadalajara Country Club, Mexico.
The biggest surprise of the month came in Japan, where the Ladies Professional Golf Association (LPGA) battle saw a dramatic situation with another non-Asian contender winning the title on Asian soil.
But Lewis’s game deserved appreciation, because she did not take the Mizuno Classic victory for granted as she had already won three LPGA titles.
The American star started brightly, and when her nearest rival Bo-Mee Lee of South Korea crashed down to the second position in the fourth round, it was when observers started to say that Lewis is going to lead the Rolex Player of the Year till the end of the current season.
Other LPGA contenders have also done well, and they will try to atone for their lapses at the Lorena Ochoa Invitational.
With the Asian rivals brimming with confidence and eager to retake the baton from non-Asian rivals once again, the Lorena Ochoa Invitational will grab massive media attention thanks to the presence of stars like current world number one Yani Tseng and South Korean I.K. Kim who won the 2010 edition and finished second in the last edition of the tournament.
Speaking to the LPGA Tour at the end of the 2011 Lorena Ochoa Invitational that saw her lose to Scottish Catriona Matthew by four strokes, Kim said that she did well in the four-day tournament, but could not display her best form.
She had vowed to win the 2012 season. “I will be ready for next year, I guess. Long way to go, but this is definitely one of my favorite tournaments and the weather has been ‑‑ we're just telling each other how great the weather it, so I look forward to coming back next year,” she said.
“Last year, other than last year I have not finished top‑10 before, so this is ‑‑ second? Did I finish tied for second? You know, what can I say? I was in contention and I got to watch Catriona play, and I've learned a lot today”.
